RE: GUNS was Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] PSUB Fatalities...View Ports...Shatterproof
Paul,
I have to say that I agree with Carsten. I'm from Canada and every time I
cross the border into the States I'm thinking "Jeez, I hope I don't get shot
this time". Whether or not that's a paranoid perception, statistics do have
their power and their place. And whether you use them for hunting or target
practice, or whether it's a handgun or a rifle, the bottom line is pretty
much all guns are designed for the purpose of killing.

How many, in 1997, died in car crashes? Also, which guns? Hand guns,
rifles, flint-locks? Things are never entirely as they are perceived, and
one must always remember the old saying: "There are lies, d*mn lies and
statistics." This just serves to show that it is important to consider
many facets of a discussion before coming to a conclusion. Proper
training from a young age in the handling of these firearms would have
prevented many of these deaths, the mere banning of firearms is no way to
deal with the situation. What are those of us who enjoy target-shooting
or hunting to do? There's nothing wrong with target shooting, nor is
there anything wrong with hunting.
