Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Zeus and Roxanne

Dear Ray -
This movie was a farce for several reasons. #1 - the sportssub DOES have a
hole in the back ( you enter in from under the water line ), #2 the sportsub
does not even come with a hatch - I contacted the company who informed me
that it was a mock up just for use in the movie. #3 - That little dog made
me want to chop it up and use it as chum ( so I have a thing against little
dogs).
What I found most amusing is that the Sportsub people pointed me to the
movie as it features their sub - So I rent it and snuggle in with my woman,
trying to get her excited about P-subbing - THEN the movie ends with the
main character almost geting killed in one. Needless to say, not the best
publicity or PSUB endorsement film. WQHich reminds me of the Kitteridge
film. With all due respects to the master, towards the end of the lecture
on his sub he gets into the drop weight parts and says something like"...And
if the first weight doesn't work, then pull the second weight. Now if BOTH
weights don't work, well, um, err...That's pretty unlikely. Lets talk about
something else..." (another glowing endorsement for subbing - actually a
great homemade film!)

In defense of the SportSub - I plan that this will be my first Sub, and had
intended on building one, when you could still get the parts ( Now, I just
have to save some cash instead). I bought the Sportsub video ( Two Thumbs
Up and with the exception of a little dopey part about "Could that be a UFO
in the water?"), it showed off the sub with great detail. SOrt of geared
for resort owners, but some awesome underwater footage and a little virtual
reality ride showing off the controls. The folks over there are great, and
I had a correspondence with one of them - a good guy. I like the feature
that you can actually sweim out and grab ( or mark ) stuff, but it is
ambient and thus limited in depth/time.

In response to your question about hte "smart scientist", I mewan come on -
she was in love with Steve Guttenberg ( isn't he the poor man's tom hanks?
How smart can that Be?)
Sincerely
Greg
