[PSUBS-MAILIST] Re: GUNS and stuff--commentary

I'm going to say this and hopefully let it go for a while as I don't
want to be responsible for clutter. I would suggest that Vance go and look
at the Psubs.org site once again. There is a little green submarine there
at the top. Under the little submarine is a list of various submarine
related topics and issues. Last time I was there I saw no hypertext for
gun control, elementary education, personal philosophy or much of any topic
being discussed currently. As far as the turnover from the last time the
group got into fir-lined bikinis and the like the group lost several people
that will be difficult to replace. I would NOT downplay that loss.
As far as the "freedom of speech" issue goes. That does not
necessarily apply to someone standing up at a concert, play, or movie and
starting to expound on their pet topics. The main reason for this is the
fact that other people went there to hear the concert, enjoy the play, or
see the movie, because that is what they went there for. Everyone gets
off-topic once in a while but there are instances and extremes.
Here is the big question to me; if you want to share these things with
your friends, why don't you use email. I do it all the time. I just
responded to a private email from a psubber a few minutes ago. What I told
him pertained to subs but I chose to send directly to him rather than to
involve the group as I felt it was probably not pertinent to anyone
else. Might I suggest that those who really could use email directly don't
because they want to be heard by as many people as possible. Think about it.
