Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Wha?

Hi, Ray!
'Nuytten' is pronounced exactly like Sir Isaac . . . 'Newton' - or
like the ill-fated Mac hand-held, or like the apple ( fruit, not computer)
It is a terrible name to pronounce!! I've spent my whole life watching
people try to cipher it out quickly and coming up with 'Nee-oy- ton',
Nighton, New-itten, Noit-ten, and on and on. The derivation is Belgian - it
means, literally, "son of Nuyt" ( or maybe, sunnuva newt!) My background is
French - Canadian, Native Indian, Russian, and Belgian. Nuytten is not a
common name -except in St. Boniface, Manitoba, or in Mooreslede, Belgium.
If you search Nuytten on the net, you will get me and my cousin Bruno ( a
well-known European film director) and a few others . . .pretty skinny,
though. ( The numbers of individual newts, not me!)
