[PSUBS-MAILIST] HOMSUBVID update and information...
Aloha!
Since my last post, we've got a few more
participants onboard (Dale Heinzig and Dan Scott Taylor most recently); this
thing is really starting to take off. Thank you!
Just in case it might be necessary, I'd like to
re-emphasize or clarify a few points:
1. I'm compiling throughout the Summer and editing
in the Fall, so you've got time. (I'm refurbishing the NAUTILUS and taking her
to KAWAIHAE, where they filmed WATERWORLD, for this project.
So everyone has time to enjoy their boats during the warm weather, and shoot a
lot of good video.)
2. Unfinished projects in progress, and computer
generated conceptual designs represented by scans, are extremely
welcome!
3. FORMAT: Any kind of stills (photos or scans in
jpeg) work well. Regular ol' VIDEO-8MM is what my editing
equipment accepts; I can use anything else, but it will need to be transferred
to V-8MM, and may lose a little quality in the process.
4. Some narrated scenes are fine (take a bow!); but
for the most part, NON-NARRATED scenes with the background sounds and candid
conversation intact work best, providing a good foundation over which to lay our
narration, music, etc.
5. Don't worry about making it a finished
production; just send me a bunch of bulk scenes, include a written description
of what we're seeing and what you'd like people to know, and I'll do the
arrangement with my editing equipment.
6. As much as possible, hold the camera steady and
level; shoot AT LEAST "10-second scenes" (or longer, preferably); pan or zoom
slowly and smoothly. Try to avoid scenes where the camera "jumps around"
quickly from point to point. Scenes where the viewer can "relax and
watch the action from a stable viewpoint" are the best!
OK! I'm back to work!
Very best regards,
Pat Regan
