Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Just a picture link II

Ty,

Most of those pictured that are down and out are ex-government boats, or ex-corporate boats that ran out of government money. Meaning that they are mouldering in semi-museum state here and there around the country. I think you have a good idea about tracking them. Ray could start a museum page or something.

I can tell you that Deep Diver is on display at HBOI here in Ft. Pierce and that Shelf Diver, renamed J-FD after a beloved French boss of mine who was killed in a plane crash, is on display in Toulon, France. I think the Trieste is for sale cheeeeeep, and is parked somewhere (maybe on the west coast). They advertise it on the Silvercrest web site. Beaver belongs to International Underwater Contractors, or used to, and if they still have it, it will bein the warehouse with Mermaid, PC-3B & Pisces VI at the City Island IUC base near New York City. Deep Quest is probably still in San Diego. Sea Cliff is at WHOI being morphed with Alvin, and Turtle is probably still in San Diego being stored or something. I know where most of the Perry boats are, too, but the list is getting cumbersome, so I'll cut it out for now.

Uncle Phil Nuytton is a dyed-in-the-wool sub crank and collector of moldering equipment for the "Museum of Lost Dreams and Finest Kind Hot Dog Stand" (or something). He knows about some more of this. He is looking, for instance, in the weeds at Scripps for the remains of Deep Jeep. He would know some more about all this, I suspect.

Best Regards,
Vance
