                 yes, that's how E-MHD works. The force that the two fields
exert on the water is known as Lorentz force. And yes, it only works with
any degree of efficiency in sea-water. The layouts proposed for engines like
these previously, including the Yamato1, unfortunately are either extremely
inefficient or require bulky cryogenic cooling systems, because they need
superconducting magnets just to make them work. They need such powerful
magnets because of their inefficient layout. My layout is much more natural
to the forces involved, therefore requires less energy to produce an effect.
