[PSUBS-MAILIST] Minn Kota Edrive modifications.

Has anyone modifed an edrive lower unit to operate at more than 100 feet depth. I spoke with an engineer at Minn Kota and he was aware of the edrive being used sucessfully with no modifications at 75-100 feet, but felt the shaft seal would not allow them to operate well at much greater depths. I purchased one intending to use ambient compensation, but would rather replace the shaft seal with ceramic and/or fill the unit with transformer oil.

I purchased the K-250/350 hybrid that was for sale in Santa Rosa for what I thought was a steal. Howverer, I have some questions about the construction and design changes. I will be xraying the major welds in the next few weeks to get a better idea of the construction quality. That and some major modifications over the next few months may reveal that it will be more trouble (cost) than I anticipated.
