Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST]

George, at 300 fsw the ambient pressure is about 150 psi. I'd check your calcs over again.

Archimedes is being designed for a crush depth of 300' and an operational depth of 150' at crush depth I won't be able to even fill the ballast because the compressed gas will be at a lower PSI than the ambient preasure. (4410psi Ambient vs 3000psi in the pony... full) at operating depth I'll have close to 600 psi to spare so I can blow and adjust the ballast at depth.

I kept on running into the design problem of how to (cost effectively) use compressed gas in a ballast system and what I came up with is using a scuba tank... which automaticly limits me to 3000psi and thus a "floor" of 204 feet before I could no longer blow the tanks. I really wanted to design something that would crush at 300m and operate at 150m but... I'm gonna have to settle for what I have if I want a soft ballast.
