at the Navy Yard museum in Washington DC.

Kinda cool:


The NYT has an article with pics. of the forging of the crew spheres for
the Alvin replacement.

The sphere is fabricated by welding two Ti hemispheres.  The pics are of
the forging of one of the hemispheres.  Each hemisphere is formed from
an 11 foot diameter Ti disk, pressed as if by the thumb of Poseidon
himself.
