Brian,
How would you prevent the gas from forming on the
new top of the cell with the battery turned on it's side?
With the gas bubble on top and the vents
coming out of what is now the side, you would force the acid out until the
battery drained down to the level of your vents before any gasses would
vent.
Why turn a battery on it's side
anyway?
