Hi Alec and Vance, and thanks for the good advice. I will look for some
deals on Swagelock parts. I need quite a few for the HP air system and various
other plumbing runs like depth gage and stuff anyway. I know some pipe
fitters that use them all the time so maybe a deal is possible. It surely would
make a nicer plumbing system.
On Snoopy's vents, I'm surprised at the 1/4 inch porting on your valves and
it only taking two minutes to vent. That doesn't sound so bad. I wanted a 1"
vent system but also wanted schedule 80 thru-hulls. The 1" sch. 80 nipples have
an OD of 1-3/8" so finding valves to fit that would be tough ( and expensive )
hence the 3/4" ID of the nipples. Long ago I considered the differences between
using nipples or female couplings as thru-hulls. With internal threads a
coupling would be hard to repair/replace, short of cutting it out and welding in
a new one. A nipple will be somewhat easier, but still a pain if it gets
buggered up.
Thanks again you guys, your advice is priceless.
