I am using the Desert Star Sport. So far, it seems
to do what it is advertised to do. The receiver has two
setting, high and low. When the receiver is close (50
ft) to the pinger, I have had to go to the low setting to be able to
resolve the location of the pinger in low visibility conditions. What I
have not done is confirm the max range or find out what are the constraints on
mounting the pinger to the psub. I don't have anything bad to say about
the unit.

Desert Star Sport
Is anyone using the Desert Star pingers? I would like to track my
sub with my
surface boat, and keep it within a ressonable distance. Be down
right embarrassing
to have my surface crew lose me.
