Your cost was more in the ballpark. Brian would need 94.25 inch wide
material to make a diameter of 30 inches. I'm wondering if the guy
quoted a 30 inch wide x 9 foot piece, forgetting to do the math to
calculate the material needed for a cylinder. I hope not. If the price
stands, and the material is up to spec, I think Brian just found us a
great supplier of steel.

You should ask them if they can make segmented heads. Maybe get a
price on some other parts like stiffener rings, window frames, hatch
bases and the like. Maybe they're just hungry.
