Alec, I thought I would share this idea with you as someone else might come up with something similar. My small ambient sub will have a periscope that will have the John Wayne arm handles that can pivot up on both sides. The battery power and interface cable for the mast mounted camera will all be contained on this unit making full 360 rotation without cable entanglements possible. The display monitor will be only 3 1/2" and color and mounted on this periscope's lower assembly front panel. Because this sub will be smaller than most, space will be very precious. For this reason, the entire lower scope assembly will be capable of pivoting forward and up to secure on the forward ceiling with a mechanical latching mechanism. When stored in this manner, the video display will still be able to display the camera view as seen straight ahead freeing the single occupant to maintain depth with both the bow and stern planes controls. The periscope head will need to be machine shop produced so as to be very small and serviceable. As this develops. I will provide shots of how this item turned out.
