RE: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Query

When I had Snoopy in the ocean I had to rig a bilge pump because I was
getting a bit of water through the open hatch when surfaced. Since PRV2
will presumably operate from Sea Hunter, and she has that nice big crane
on the stern, if it were me I'd adopt a SOP of opening the hatch only on
deck, and in that case the bilge pump would be unnecessary.

Brian,

Did PRV2 originally have a diver lockout? I wonder if it was spec'd for
remaining water after a lockout dive. Or maybe in case of excess water
due to rough water getting in through an open hatch on the surface?
Perhaps one of our sub-owners who have some dive time behind them can
comment on the necessity of a bilge pump. There's a certain amount of
water that will accumulate due to condensation and semi-dry
entrance/exit from the vessel, but I don't think that would necessitate
the need for a bilge pump.

In regard to kort nozzles, you are correct that specific design is
necessary to get additional thrust through positive/negative pressure
differentials. Check the archives because I think we did have a
discussion about them in the past, but there's much info on the web as
well.
