<div dir="ltr">Pertaining to the electrical outlet situation, our home is a duplex so we have two separate electrical systems plus dock power. We should have plenty of 120 AC power for charging everyone's sub batteries and all are welcome to charge up, free of charge (pun). But really, its not like we are going to ask for money to charge some batteries for a few hours. We also have extension cords to run into subs for charging, but I would advise all who are bringing boats to bring their own cords so we don't end up running out! <div>
<br></div><div>As to the private ramp, it is made of concrete. We have a key for the lock and all are welcome to use it as our guests. As Jon mentioned, there is also adequate launching facilities in the lagoon, including another ramp and the gantry crane. I'm sure there would be a fee invovled with the ganrty crane, not sure about the public ramp, I can look into it though. </div>
<div><br></div><div>As Jon stated, the visibility is usually quite good. Understandably, it won't be as good in the lagoon because of increased traffic, but even still 7- 10 feet minimum should be expected on / near the bottom assuming adequate sunlight. The bay is also pretty clear, although as it gets windier, the waves will stir the sand. This should not be an issue because if it is really windy, we'll probably elect to stay in the sheltered lagoon area. ~ Douglas S. </div>

Thanks for the detailed info. My battery charger is on board and takes 120 ac so recharging should not be an issue. Given my limited freeboard, my guess is that a pilot changeout would occur back at launch site unless sea state was calm. Alternately we could attach bow and stern lines off my boat to a tender boat like Doug's whaler to open hatch and change pilots if the sea state is calm.<br>

In water transit distance to both dive sites from davit launch is approximately 1/2 mile. There is a concrete ramp at approximately 24 51 24.52N/80 43 45.21W which is within 800 feet of the Lagoon dive site but it is unclear if we can use it or not. Looks like a boat yard so we may be able to. We'll have to ask Douglas to inquire. I believe Douglas said the Lagoon had 20-25 feet of water but it is in close quarters with potentially moderate surface boat traffic, unclear at this point what the visibility would be like. In the Gulf we would be looking at 8-10 feet of water regardless of how far out we went; see <a href="http://www.charts.noaa.gov/OnLineViewer/11449.shtml" target="_blank">http://www.charts.noaa.gov/OnLineViewer/11449.shtml</a> and look for "Florida Bay" on the north side of the keys. Visibility in the Gulf is usually superb. The shallowness benefits us from the perspective of trying to coordinate multiple vessels and will also be an excellent opportunity for skin/scuba diving with the subs (lots of photo ops).<br>

> Atlantic side diving will likely be best from the Harry Harris Park public boat ramp at 25 01 28.77N/80 29 39.40W which has concrete ramps and deep water. This puts the subs right at the Atlantic's door without having to traverse from the Gulf side. One mile from shore gets you about 10 feet depth, two miles gets you about 15 feet depth, and three miles gets you about 21 feet depth. Approximately 5.5 miles and you hit 50-60 feet and then it drops quickly, at 6 miles you enter 100+ depth water. If we rent boats we can get them at the Tavernier Channel and quickly scoot over to Harry Harris in a matter of minutes. Water visibility is always good. You can get dive reports from numerous online dive center web sites throughout the Keys.<br>
