I finally got all the components sandblasted for my
K-350. I built an 8'X8'X8' visqueen shed in my shop with one side that isn't
secured so I could access it with my forklift as he blasted things but the
deflecting grit and air volume was too much for it and the staples started
ripping out so I had to move the operation outside.

I wanted it inside as it would be easy to reclaim the
grit and use again having a concrete floor plus we get rain every afternoon
usually so didn't want that to effect his progress.

Unfortunately he is the only mobile sandblaster on the
Island so I had no options and when I asked him for a quote he gave me a
price and said I had to also provide the compressor and sand as well. Before I
could move him outside, my shop got completely covered in grit so I will be
sweeping and vacuuming for days. I was surprised to see that he didn’t' have a
sandblast hood that has the positive air flow from the compressor for safety and
visibility reasons but was really surprised when I popped outside the shop to
see him doing it bare chested! Paradise isn't all that it's cracked up to
be.

I taped all the sealing surfaces and threw hulls that
had the O ring grooves and explained to him that those areas could NOT be
blasted but he kind of got them anyway so am a little concerned about water
ingress by the O rings but hopefully it's not that bad. I tried wiping the
blasted steel with a acquire thinner to remove any oil and impregnated moisture
but was impossible to do with the surface being so rough so I switched to using
a rose bud to remove any moisture which was evident when I hit it with the
rose bud but it was a slow process and I was also concerned that I might warp
something so I gave that up and just tried to apply the primer as soon as he was
done with an object.

He was here 8 hours and by the time I got a coat of
primer on the last thing blasted it was 8:45 PM. I had a quick sandwich and went
to bed and it was my birthday to boot. I guess if it was easy everyone would be
doing it! enough crying on your shoulders, I better get sweeping. I included a
picture above for your enjoyment.....
