I cut my dome straps out today from a hemi tank head.  The nice thing about this way of making the straps is the straps are all one piece and have a compound curve so they fit real nice.
Any suggestions on a pad material to put under the straps are welcome. I was thinking EPDM since I am ordering some for the gasket anyways.
