Hank, hold on another year, help is on it's way! Here is a lithium Sulphur battery they have trialed, that goes to 6km deep.http://www.power-eetimes.com/news/high-performance-lithium-sulphur-batteries-deep-dive-underwater-vehicles-move-step-closerThe problem they are having with developing Lithium Sulphur batteries for the automobile market,is the number of charge cycles they can get out of them; however we don't take oursubmarines out every day, & the number of charge cycles is probably acceptablefor a submersible application.I have read that the price in the future will be cheaper per kilowatt than a lead acid battery.Alan

Hank,if you tried to seal each battery individually, you would still have tolink the batteries in series. So this would mean sealing the 2 wirescoming out of each battery & sealing where they connect. That isif I am understanding what you want to do correctly. There is "Deep Sea Power & light's" Sea battery, that we have mentioned before, but this is a sealed lead acid battery. The busby book has a section on battery compensating. There are a lot of problems for not much benefit.Alan

Hi guys,I would like to switch Elementary from internal batteries to external batteries and flood them with oil.  Has anyone tried to make a cap for the top of a battery with a rubber top to hold in oil.  So instead of building a box around the battery, simply encapsulate the openings of the battery body.  Again this is in an effort to keep the sub light.Hank
