Thanks for the detailed account Doug! For everyone else, in case you're
wondering what happened to Shackleton...  it was a trailer issue. I had
around 20 hours of uneventful towing in the DC metro region before setting
out on this trip, but when I got close to North Carolina the speed limit
went from 55 to 70. It turns out the trailer experiences its harmonic
oscillation frequency at that speed, which is to say it likes to swing
violently from side to side. I'll be moving the sub forward a little to
increase tongue weight, and will be looking into bolt-on damper kits.
