Also curious about the paddle wheeler engine. I run with these guys down in
the States http://www.americansternwheel.org/ Like the Psubbers, a rather
interesting crew.

Keeping the sidewheels on the landing craft might be a good idea. Low
draft, doesn't get caught up on weeds, high thrust at low speed, and works
just as well in reverse as it does going forward.
