Philippe,
the Minn Kotta 101s are popular with Psubbers. I think they are about 1500W
or 2hp.
Cliff Redus has documented some recent modifications & David Columbo
has just acquired a number of them.
My thoughts are that a more powerful motor will be able to get you out
of trouble in a current, & that if you are worried about power consumption
then don't run them at full throttle. If you are just diving in lakes then current
is less of an issue.
