The Kittredge K-350 is a 1ATM dry submersible designed to reach a maximum depth of 350 feet. This is a complete set of plans for one of the most popular personal submersibles fabricated by home builders.
Persistence - Built by Dan Hryhorcoff Designed by George Kittredge who is considered by many to be the father of personal submersibles, this vessel can carry up to two people in the comfort of one atmosphere (1ATM) to a depth range well beyond that available to sport divers. The K-350 uses three electic motors for propulsion with power supplied from 12 volt batteries stored in the lower pods. SCUBA tanks provide the air for main ballast control and a small variable ballast tank between the battery pods allows fine tuning of bouyancy. The main ballast tanks, lights, and viewports can be customized to fit your particular application. Kittredge K-350 submersibles have received certification from Lloyds Register of Shipping and Nippon Kaiji Kyokai. The submersible drawings are copies of the original K350-L design and provided as PDF files on CDrom. What's involved with building your own submersible?
