Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] oh god will this end

If you manufacture an item that requires a particular maintenance regime, and you make a point of documenting those maintenance procedures and their required schedule, and when selling your sub you get the subsequent owner to sign an acknowledgement of the need for this maintenance, I presume that your liability would be limited in the case of a failure causing injury or death, if it could be determined that the cause of failure was ignored or deferred maintenance?

Scary stuff for sure. I wonder then, what the cost of building to ABS is compared to the cost of not being able to resell. Maybe something to consider?

I called my attorney after the posting about other people using my designs for thier subs. her decision about this garbage was as follows. if you built it you are fucked, you have manufactured an item that entered the stream of commerce. the only way to save yourself is to damage the equipment to the point that it is not usable. i.e.. cut a hole in it. prior to sale. and sell for scrap as the individual that manufactured the sub you are responsible for any failure of it. I will post drawings for systems that I intend to use . but these systems drawings are for information use only. these system are not tested and if you use them you use them at your own risk.
