RE: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Viewport design question
Will Foreman, who was/is the secretary for the Deep Submergence Pilots
Association came up with an innovative way to get around the strict port
design criteria under ABS. I believe he patented cylindrical acrylic hull
sections held together with a steel frame for tourist subs.

Imagine a crocodile with mouth half open. Somebody warp around this
opening a acrylic sheet and fix it with pinnails to the mouth from the
outside. Now imagine what happen when the crocodile force his mouth to
close.. Right - the pinnails get the force from 90 degree of the
direction they were designed to take strength.. Thats they way they
designed the old Submanauts warp around windows. They cut the forward
endcap in two pices like the mouth of a crociodile..
