RE: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Herve Jaubert/Exomos in the news

Title: Message
One thing I'm struck by is that out of Proteus's 45 tons, 20 TONS are batteries. I guess relative to a one-atmosphere boat, the hull must be very light and Herve needed something heavy to make her dive, so why not carry the lead in the form of useful batteries rather than simple ballast? To put it in perspective, Proteus is about 45% batteries, while a K250 is about 6% batteries.  Proteus must have quite impressive endurance!

cheers,

Alec

Herve:  Has Proteus completed her dive test?  Do you have any underwater photos?

Congratulations again and best wishes.

Here is Herve's company website where you can see the subs:
http://www.exomos.com

There used to be some movies or/and pictures of Herve's subs somewhere,
but I don't have the link any more.
