Ron,  Just jump in!!!!

That's all there is to getting started.  After that, play around with it 
while it's still tethered to your trailer.  You'll get the feel of it 
lifting off and settling back down.  After that, run it off the trailer but 
in water not much deeper then the sub itself.  Play around there, and as 
your confidence builds then head out deeper and deeper.

Think of it as more of a helicopter then an airplane.  You can take off as 
slow and as short a distance as you feel comfortable with rather then pop up 
and commit yourself for completing a circle and returning.

No matter how you do it, there is a pucker factor you gotta get through. 
Just continually monitor your feelings, your situation and your boat to keep 
from getting in trouble.
