[PSUBS-MAILIST] Nautilus Options

How bout this:

Build a 1atm sub referencing a proven design (K-2/350)
Skin it with fiberglass to look like a Nautilus

That is what I'd be inclined to do were it my project.

My current sketches on my project are looking more like the result of a drunken evening encounter between the Nautilus and the USS Monitor (Ironclad).

My reasoning is that the Monitor's shape seems more practical for sub adaptation and it satisfies my anachronistic/steampunk aesthetic target nicely. If you take a good look at it, you can easily see a how one could, essentially, take a K-250-like pressure hull and go from there. It fits right in.

Hi Joe!

I certainly agree.  A Nautilus built as Goff described might be barely feasible, but it wouldn't be very strong by contemporary standards.  At the end of the day, the sparse returns in utility and safety could never justify the staggering expense or effort of bringing such a dream to fruition.  But what a "Whale of a Tale" it would be!  8^))

Cheers!
