Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] psub convention in Raystown

HI All ,I had a great time even in the rain, It was nice meeting everyone and the presentations were great. Nate and Doug, a couple of real stand up guys Friday night in the rain. I wish we could have stayed longer and the trip back to Mich. was good, the bus was going 70mph part of the way. Next weekend I am going up north to look at some lakes , that are suppose to have 30' visibility, campsites, and stop to see Jon's sub from yel-o-sub.com . He's been making viewports for his conning tower. If we don't have the convention in Mich. next year we will have a sub get together at some lake.
I cant wait for the sub sim too. see ya , Les

Hello Rob,

I can only address convention issues. First, next years convention is a
long way off and a lot can happen in that time. We usually select a site in February. Second, coordinating a convention is a lot of work that requires
dedicated time to investigate potential sites, reserve rooms, setup
schedules, and secure permits if necessary. We will only select Michigan if there is somebody in that location that we (Ray and I) feel we can trust to
do this legwork.

However, you don't need a "PSUBS convention" to host a "sub-party",
"regatta", or whatever else you want to call it. Anyone, at any location,
can always take it upon themselves to host a get-together and invite
psubbers to join in the fun. If you want to host a party, we will gladly
advertise it on PSUBS.ORG for you as well.

Hope that helps,
Jon

Hi out there,
I have some questions on my new k-250
I have been reading all your emails and am now looking forward to
putting my k-250 in the lake for a trial spin in a couple of weeks, but a
couple of things are bothering me.
first issue is the props, the sun has done its damage to the
plastic and I need new ones. They look like old minnkota trolling motor
props. is that a possibility? Do I worry about prop pitch ?
second. how much air pressure do I put in the aqualung for the
fore, aft, and main ballast tanks? Can I use a regular air compressor to
fill it? Is one aqua lung enough (only have one) for a test dive to about 25
feet down?
third. do I fill the main ballast tank (my seat is this tank) for
neutral bouyency?
fourth. Is RTV used for the port glass gaskets? (it looks like red
rtv) and is rtv a problem?
fifth, an air line has come apart at a fitting, is stainless fittings
and tubing a problem instead of using copper for the air lines? Copper was
used in the sub but the stainless I have is for higher pressures.(
dissimiler metel issues?)
and last but not least , the batteries. What kind? will marine
batteries be alright and do I have to use the hydrogen caps ( batteries are
sealed and dont usually accept the screw in caps) by the way there is a
battery box is a extremly well built and is sealed.

One more question, is there really going to be a convention in michagan?
Upper ? lower? but no matter it would be close enough coming from minnesota
towing my lil sub for me to want to be there.
Thank you for your time and the wonderful stories that I have been reading
on the psub site, without you guys guys like me would be making terrible
dangerous mistakes.

Rob
