Dan,

The weights are 125 LBS each.  I made mine similar to the plans.  If you can't find 2 inch channel, use 1/4 X 2" flat steel bar.  All it does is give the weight some back bone and it's a steel component to hold the release mechanism.

For my mold, I bent a piece of 1/4 plate into a rain gutter sort of thing, then capped off the ends.  You could make it out of flat pieces.  It has to be almost water tight because the liquid lead will seep through almost any seam water will.  Potters clay can be used to coat your mold to help release and to dress up any corners in the mold.  It's great to make nice interior radii.

It helps to have the mold warm when your poring the lead.  The lead will flow better form end to end and it ensures your mold is dry if you use any potters clay in it.

Remember, you will need something to hold the steel parts in place when you pore the lead.  The steel will try to float in the molten lead.

Subject: [PSUBS-MAILIST] emergency weight drop for K-350

Hello, I am assembling the emergency drop weight system for my K-350, I have a doubt, on the plans they tell me to use a 2” channel (witch I can’t find locally) and then make some others arrangements, I was thinking that maybe some of the owners of the k-350 in this forum could help me by telling me the weight of their bars so I can make bars of the same weight and dimensions, if someone can help me please let me know.  Thank You.
