[PSUBS-MAILIST] Saw a sub up close last night...

Howdy folks,

Just thought I'd pass along a wonderful event that happened last night.  A
gentleman in our church is about to be posted overseas aboard the HMCS Ottawa
and gave us a wonderful tour onboard before she sails (Sep 10th).  After the
tour itself though, he took us back to the parking lot past the dry dock
where the HMCS Victoria is in for a refit (about 1 yr into the 2yr refit
right now).

Anyway, didn't have my camera, but I must say she's very large, and I know
there are larger in other fleets.  My son was awestruck by the sheer size
of the submarine.  It was pretty much all stripped down to the pressure
hull (all hydrodynamic plates removed), and covered with scaffolding and
tarps.
