I've been following this thread with interest, and apologies if somebody
has suggested this already. But, what if you keep it dead simple, the
skinny water problem is really a draft problem, right? The simplest way I
can think of to get more draft involves a few "floaty things", barrels;
pontoons; heck, done right you could other boats; and some rachet straps.
Put floaty things next to sub, attach one end of the rachet strap to the
bottom of the floaty thing, attach other end of the rachet to a low down
point on the sub, rachet the straps until the sub is high enough to get
the trailer under it, then let out the rachets and lower the sub onto
the trailer.
To be safer, you should do a center of gravity calculation for the sub
when it is being raised to it's highest point in this method to check
for possible roll over (which will happen if you raise it too high in
this method). You ballast tank design with also affect the usefulness
of this method, if you mbts are shallow, then you won't get as much lift
as you would with tall ballast tanks (basically the amount of tank out
of the water before and after you lift it).
But this method should work on just about any small sub and it's cheap.
Cheers,
Ian.
