Perhaps you could do this Ian, but I would worry about something "letting go" a strap / ratchet...etc. Also, some rather frail structures may get in the way....glass MBTs, fairings, thruster pods....etc.
The ideal solution is something that could stay intact, and do the job as a single unit.
