Is that right? Hmm. I'm pretty sure it was the other way around, but wasn't there, so won't swear to it. The Makai'i Range (or somebody) built a 35 footer and ran Star II off it for deepwater coral harvest. I thought the whole kit and kaboodle belonged to the University of Hawaii, somewhere in there, but it's hard to keep up with those folks over there past the left coast. One of the Nektons used it, too, and some testing was done with some of the first acrylic hulled test beds, and I think Phil N. used it off and on with some of his projects. When Pisces IV and V got into the picture at the U of H, a bigger LARP was built to handle the 12 ton load until they got a ship big enough to handle an A-frame. Maybe they still use it, but I don't know. Wasn't it the smaller LRT being used when a diver died? Those things are still available commercially by some of the same people--they specialize in all sorts of aluminum work, including that. Don't know them, but I've seen their web page, with a Pisces on the LARP.

The LRT was originally designed for another purpose/vehicle and was given by the Navy to Hawaii

Rick,
We are limited to 8.5' legal trailer width, so raising the cg significantly increases the risk of upset in moderate seas.
Take a look at the L to W ratio of the LRT in this photo.
