I am pretty sure that some one is hopping mad. However, the idea of a drug sub does have merrit. Look at the German Type XIV resupply sub. It worked. It extended the range of the U-boats. But it lacked the ability to really defend itself, hence why all of them were sunk. I am sure that some one is going to try it again.

What interests me is that there's that much stuff available to sell.
Yeah, they're angry, but they're also setting up the next trip. Was
that the only smuggling submarine? How many trips had it made?

Read "Freakonomics" for insight into how this works economically. From
that book, it would appear that the guys they caught were doing it for
the thrills because they money doesn't go to those at that level. It's
a lot more profitable to build a sub for fun!
