Yeah...cheap to be sure!

I noticed the same thing Vance, the spool is too big. To get that a bit more compact.. (and for me to get it inside the aft sail), you will need a friendlier line then that poly,... that is just as you say, smaller dia, high strength, pays out easily, and if not lightly buoyant, perhaps neutral.

You won't find it at West Marine but, there are specialty shops out there...gotta love the internet, sure makes things a lot easier finding stuff.
