RE: [PSUBS-MAILIST] RE: payload
Kory,
I've thought about that as well, and it would be ideal on a larger sub.
The K-350, has a relatively tiny VBT which is about 1 cubic foot of volume.
Trouble with getting bigger, is that the volume displaced, as this is
outside, would start to hurt...where too make it up is the bad
question....lead....catch 22. Remember, this is a really tiny little sub.
Also, as for trim, I wont be doing tanks, more pipes, valves, transfer
pump...etc. I will be doing an observers "seat tray" that will roll along
the centerline and lock in position where you want it. The lead shot bags
that I will have to carry solo, will go on this tray.

would it be possible to design larger trim tanks, say 2 at 150lbs each to
give you a +/- of 300lbs. that way, if you're diving solo, your trim tanks
would be on the fuller side, compensating for the lack of passenger, and
when diving with payload/passenger, they would be on the emptier side so
the added boyancy would even out the extra 200lbs to stay neutrally boyant?
just an idea that looked good on paper to me, and so now i'm inviting some
other thoughts on the matter to troubleshoot the whole idea.
kory in so. cal.
