Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] 2006 PSUBS Award voting is open

Hi Jon;

I was only asking about Kittredge because I didn't realize he had already received an award, and he is certainly deserving.  It wasn't a nomination, it was a question.  I agree, a Kittredge award for Kittredge would be corny, and as long as he has already received recognition, I'm satisfied.

As to the posthumous award question, I was thinking Jacques Cousteau, who got me interested to begin with.  I think there's a museum in Marseilles, or Toulon where the R/V Calypso is.  A PSubs plaque displayed in his museum would be neat.

Absolutely.  If Stan wants to nominate Kittredge for a Kittredge award, that's fine with me.  I didn't intend "I would be more supportive" to be interpreted as "it ain't gonna happen", and I apologize if that's the way it sounded.  I think Stan's posthumous nomination idea is great.  I hadn't considered that angle before.  My only caveat is that it wouldn't be productive for us to give a posthumus award to Archimedes for example (stupid example I know but the only one I can think of at this time in the morning), hence my comment regarding contact information of someone that would be able to physically accept the award.
