Wouldn't adding air also change the bouyancy? Meaning that
each time you adjust the trim, you've got to get back to
neutral bouyancy again after (without messaging your trim
adjustments). If you had hard MBTs (to avoid the
air changing volume as you change depth) it could work,
but I think it would be rather complicated to operate.
