RE: [PSUBS-MAILIST] PSUB Fatalities...View Ports...Shatterproof

Hey folks,

Although this topic has had nothing to do with submarines, I think that it
demonstrates something that we should all learn. It is important to look at
an issue from all sides before committing to it. When building submarines,
I think that keeping that fact in mind might help to keep us alive.
Originally, I thought that buying a gun for protection was sort of like
buying a sword to cut your vegetables or a baseball bat to mash your
potatoes. But having read some of the stories posted, it appears as though
I may have been incorrect in that idea. On the other hand, it seems that I
was entirely justified in my paranoia about visiting my troubled southern
neighbors. Generally, my idea of protecting my family is making them wear
coats when it's raining and for the most part that is about as serious as it
gets so it is difficult for me to understand needing or even wanting a gun.
My advice to the lot of you is move as soon as you can.

Anyways, what I would like to know is how viewports are usually
manufactured. Are they molded from a single piece? Is the process
difficult? Presuming that they are heated to mold, what sort of temperature
range is acceptable (i.e. does it have to be accurate to within ten degrees
or a tenth of a degree?)
