Thank you very much for your support. Carl is in route to Walter Reed now. He is still in "very serious" condition, banged up and missing a couple of minor parts but he will surely be on his feet again and back in the fight. I updated my web page with his status and a request, please have a look: www.submarineboat.com
Now to bring this to the topic of submarine's.
If you have not visited my site I would encourage you to do so. There are damn few ideas their that I have not stolen from someone. I am constantly on the hunt for a better answer that the one I can think of. I will fore warn you that the methods I embrace are strictly back yard, low budget, weekend handyman in nature.
I'm currently vacillating on how to automate the helm. I currently plan move the Berkeley's Jet Pump's steering and reverse cables by attaching linear actuators to the ends of the push-pull cables, but this will need a limit switches.
I have had success with an idea for monitoring the water depth using a magnet on a float that triggers reed switches. Unfortunately reed switches do not carry enough amps to power my bilge pumps so I need a way for doing that, and it would be nice to avoid using mechanical relay switches.
There are likely hundreds of other items I have not yet identified, so please don't be shy.
Thanks again
