Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] safety issues

Not really.. I live in Austin, Texas and the primary
dive location I'll be using my sub in will be Lake
Travis, wich is really just a huge segment of the
Coloradao River with tons of submerged oddities in it.

I checked the nautical charts for the Lake (river)
between myself and about 100 miles in any direction
and foudn the max depth was about 200 feet (give or
take a few feet based on surface levels). So, if all
goes to hell on me and:
1. My inherent positive bouyancy fails, and
2. My VBT fails, and
3. Both of my emergency inflation systems fail, and
4. My emergency ballast drop fails, and
5. My secondary equipment drop system fails
6. I can use either the primary or secondary hatches
and use the emergency BC and Catalina 13 SCUBA tank to
surface and swim my butt to shore.

The natural boundary of approx 200 feet keeps me from
"accidentally" dropping too far, and designing the sub
for an an unreachable (at least for my geographic
location) depth gives me an excellent safety boost.

Hope this clears it up for ya a little,
Rob
