   i meant a k350 type layout  with a thousand ft operational depth. this 
is do able with out killing the bank over this unless you hit the lotto 
forget it.

If we are to embark on a new Open Source Sub project,
why not make it noteworthy?  Maybe even grab some
media attention to the field of personal submersibles?

My thought is that it has been more than 25 years
(1960) since the Bathyscaphe Trieste made her way to
(and from) the Marianna Trench, setting the unrivaled
diving depth record of 37800 feet.

The concept of the Trieste is pretty simple - maybe
our group could build on her designs and come up with
something truly noteworthy?  Many of us have already
built craft capable of operating up to 350 feet, but
this would truly be an accomplishment...
