I'll second the others' comments - nice, handsome looking boat!  I've always thought the Protector had a stout, capable look and I think Patrick's sketch has the same feel.

(To really nail that Victorian look, how about a steam engine and boiler?!   :-))

Got your link and checked out the drawing Patrick. Your conning tower reminds me of  Simon Lake's first military design sub  "The Protector" that was sold to Russia back in 1902.
