The cycle underwter diesel needs a compressor for the CO2 exhaust. 
That limits the deeps of this drive - deeper you got - more work the
compressor has to do. There is a deep limit were the compressor needs
all the power of the diesel just to feed the exhaust overboard.  
But for shallow water subs up to some 300 feet maybe a solution. 
Note : you need a big Oxygen storage capacity. 

I research all kind of underwater drives before building the Euronaut
and found that fuelcells have the better performance.
