Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Concept Rendering [Sitting High]

Doug, That was a raft. The largest full hull Nautilus built for the 54 film was 14 feet long, used for surface shots underway and long shots underwater. Chris Chulimanis found all that out when he was building the half models to try and flog to Disney. Vance

Patrick,

I believe I read somewhere that the full sized Nautilus model used in the 1954 Disney film cut ping pong balls in half for all the rivets.  Of course that model was for surface use only.  You would have to fill yours with something that would not crush.

I have considered the faux rivets. I was thinking of molding them out of resin or body filler ot fiberglass.
I haven't looked into the appropriate process for it yet because it'd be cosmetic. I'd be taking alot of
creative licence with the design and not so much making a scale replica.

The Aligator would make for a great go-fast sub but I'm afraid that there does not look to be much room for viewports or movement about the cabin. Incorporating some of the elements of the design however is worth
looking into!
