RE: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Hydrophones

We didn't have an opportunity to test range.  We did a demonstration on a dock which was probably close to 100 feet long.  I can only tell you that based on a distance of 100 feet, the loudness of the pinger picked up from the home-built hydrophone was noticably diminished from what I observed in fresh water.  That's very subjective based upon my hearing, which is why having others perform some testing is really necessary.  In fresh water, relatively shallow (20-50 feet) which is all I had available for testing, the range was close to a quarter mile over the surface.

Jon

I look forward to seeing the documentation.  What was the range capability to the pinger in sea water?

Have A Nice Day.
