[PSUBS-MAILIST] Heat Treating a K-250 Hull

I'm not to sure my K-250 main hull isn't made from mild steel, since it was built for some one that didn't require ABS certification.  I need a good way to test it. I've seen some special non intrusive device used to scan the Liberty Bell and other metal objects to see there metal make up. Perhaps that would do the trick.  Spark testing is not exact or course, but it can give you a idea of what your dealing with.

I'm planning to take it down to Portland, Oregon to a heat treating place I found, called Beaver Heat Treat, that has a large enough oven for my hull, when I'm done all the hull welding. So I need to be able to tell them what metal(s) I have in the hull to have it annealed properly.
