Steve, If you haven’t already figured it out, Vance is the definite
authority on anything Perry. Thanks for the clarification on your hull…from
the angle shot, it appeared to be an odd shape thus my question. R/Jay Jay K. Jeffries Andros Is., Bahamas

McQueen Vance, Thanks for the additional
info. I stand corrected regarding the ABS certification. I didn’t
mean to put out bad info. Steve From: owner-personal_submersibles@psubs.org
[mailto:owner-personal_submersibles@psubs.org] On Behalf Of vbra676539@aol.com As 1402 was the same hull as 01, it's rated to 1200
feet, although never certified at all, and tested for 600 foot service. The
boat was used in the missle target sites in the south pacific and never saw
service beyond 100 or so, except occasional tests. And you can bet that Perry
got it right, because if they hadn't, I wouldn't be her gabbing about this. Jay, The mock up was my first experience with molds and fiberglass. The mock up "squats" a bit out of round from it's own weight but the general dimensions are close. The hull will be 2 hemispheres and a cylinder. I am working on strength/stiffener calculations now. I want 800 ft. The front hull piece (with the dome opening) was already fabricated (salvaged from the PC-1402) so it has ABS certification. I believe this is the major area of hull strength issue due to the large opening but my feeling is Perry got it right. Now that I have the pressure hull dimensions established I can do all the fun math.
Thanks, Steve
